Sister 2 Sister

sister2sisterSister 2 Sister is a youth development and mentorship program that provides the space for young women ages 14-18 to participate in activities and have healthy discussions about current issues.

In today’s fast paced world, where we are bombarded by so many images, opinions and ideals, many young females are left feeling confused about who they are and who they should be. The Sister 2 Sister program enables girls and young women to be exposed to positive role models and have discussions that nurture healthy development. The program is held on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and provides female youth with a safe and welcoming environment where they are free to be themselves and express themselves openly without the fear of prejudice or judgment.

Throughout the 38 week program from October to June, the young women learn about healthy relationships, educational programs (including associated scholarships and bursaries), health and hygiene, self love and self care, physical fitness, self defense, healthy eating, body image, conflict resolution, pro-social skills, mental health, violence against women and different kinds of abuse, and finances (spending and budgeting).
