START for Life
A life skills development program for adults aged 18 years and older.
Participants receive an education on enhancing social skills necessary for positive and healthy interpersonal communication, anger-control and decision-making.
The program consists of three components Skills Streaming, Anger Control Training and Moral Reasoning.
• Skills Streaming: a selection of pro-social skills to use in anger-producing situations.
• Anger Control Training: a selection of skills and techniques are taught to control anger and feelings.
• Moral Reasoning: through the process of debating moral dilemmas, you’ll learn how to view your world in a more just, fair and equitable manner.
As the only Canadian organization certified to train START practitioners, Tropicana provides START Facilitator training to organizations, school boards and other agencies as well as YouthSTART which is a version of the START program modified for youth between the ages of 9 and 13.
Registration is now open for the next series which begins on May 24th, 2018.
This is a 10-week program on Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
