The Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship Fund

Kinross Gold Corporation is a Canadian-based senior gold mining company founded in 1993 and headquartered in Toronto with approximately 9000 employees. Kinross currently operates eight active gold mines located in Brazil, Ghana, Mauritania, Russia, and the United States. Kinross Gold Corporation is excited to be partnering with Tropicana Community Services on the following two (2) scholarships.


The Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship is open to:

  • Residents of the Greater Toronto Area
  • Individuals must be accepted to or enrolled in a Canadian recognized college or university
  • Applicants’ area of study must be related to science, technology, engineering, math, or business
  • Persons of Black, African, or Caribbean Heritage, or who identify as Black

Family members of Tropicana Community Services employees are eligible for the Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship.

Scholarship Amount

$2,500 x 2

Up to two scholarships will be given in the amount of $2,500 each.


Applications must contain the following information:

  • A 500-800-word essay, which includes:
    • A brief biography
    • Your commitment to one of Kinross’ four core values. See Kinross’ About Us page for more details (1-putting people first, 2 – outstanding corporate citizenship, 3 – high performance culture, 4 – rigorous financial discipline).
  • School transcripts
  • Proof of any relevant achievements such as certificates, photos, news clippings, a confirmation letter from a credible source, etc.
  • Two letters of reference from non-relatives
  • A letter of acceptance or a proof of enrollment from a recognized Canadian college or university
  • Any other documents that will help support this application
