With a long career in the public service Mr. Mwawasi is passionate, enthusiastic and committed to good governance in organizations.
Over the years he has volunteered and served on various boards in the African-Canadian community organizations in Montreal and Toronto in the areas of theatre, social development, strategic planning, children’s mental health and community development. He has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Ontario Public Service for Community Volunteer work.
Now he acutely supports and promotes excellence in board service and is very keen on board development issues – Board evaluation, orientation, training, organization of committees or task forces, coaching and mentorship, development of certain Board policies, and a post-evaluation of the Board – to help a Board to significantly improve its operations.
He is a former member of the board of the Kenyan Community in Ontario and the Canada East Africa Chamber of Commerce. He now sits on the Board of Blue Hills Child and Family Center and is on the advisory Board of Elevations Cooperative Inc.
He obtained his MBA from Concordia University, Montreal, has a Certificate in Essentials of Governance for Public Sector Boards and has completed the DiverseCity on Board Governance Training.
