Youth Employment Fund (YEF)

Provide young people with entry point to long-term employment through job placements that offer the chance to learn work skills while earning income

This program is accessible to all eligible youth, with a focus to assist:

  • Visible minority youth
  • Youth with poor work retention history
  • Youth on social assistance
  • Youth who are recent immigrants
  • Aboriginal youth
  • Youth with a disability
  • Youth who live in areas of high youth unemployment
  • Youth with poor history of educational attainment

Outcome: 

  • Employment and improved long-term employability
  • Short-term training
  • Education: returning to school and/or other academic upgrading

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be between 15 and 29 years old
  • Be unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
  • Not be attending school or training full-time
  • Be a resident of Ontario
