The Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship Fund

Kinross Gold Corporation is a Canadian-based senior gold mining company founded in 1993 and headquartered in Toronto with approximately 9000 employees. Kinross currently operates eight active gold mines located in Brazil, Ghana, Mauritania, Russia, and the United States. Kinross Gold Corporation is excited to be partnering with Tropicana Community Services for this scholarship.

Eligibility

The Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship is open to applicants who are:

  • Residents of the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Individuals who are accepted to or are enrolled in a recognized Canadian college or university.
  • Students who’s area of study is related to S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering, or  math), or business.
  • Persons of Black, African, or Caribbean heritage, or who identify as Black.

Family members of Tropicana Community Services employees are eligible for the Kinross Gold Corporation Scholarship.

Scholarship Amount

Up to two scholarships will be given in the amount of $2,500 each.

Applications require the following information:

  1. A 500–800-word essay which includes:
    • A brief biography.
    • An explanation of your long-term goals once your studies are complete.
    • An explanation your commitment to one of Kinross’ four core values. See Kinross page for more details.
  2. Your school transcripts.
  3. Your academic budget, showing all expected costs and funding. An example budget and template have been provided to assist you.

  4. Proof of any relevant achievements such as certificates, photos, news clippings, a confirmation letter from a credible source, etc.
  5. Two letters of reference from non-relatives.
  6. A letter of acceptance or a proof of enrollment from a recognized college or university.
  7. Any other documents that will help support this application.
