
Bobbette Jones-Keita is a lawyer with a background in Family, Child and Family Services, Litigation, Real Estate, Immigration and Administrative Law.
She is currently Counsel for the Minister (Hearings Officer) at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), appearing before the Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board. As Counsel for the Minister, Ms. Jones-Keita brings diversity to the position and to a decision-making process which is often skewed against racialized individuals.
While diligently and professionally representing the Minister, she views her duties and responsibilities through a social-justice lens which entails being fair, impartial, open-minded and equitable.
Bobbette has a degree in Political Science from York University and an LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the Bar in 2004 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario (formerly Law Society of Upper Canada).
While practicing, she appeared at various levels of the Court including the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice and Small Claims Court.
As a member of the Tropicana Board of Directors, Bobbette is eager to volunteer on the fundraising and outreach committee as she feels this would provide a great opportunity to enhance her financial aptitude and interpersonal skills.
