Job & Career Fairs

A job fair is an exhibition made up of different employers looking to fill several positions at once. Job seekers get a chance to:

  • Meet representatives from various employers and different industries
  • Learn about possible employment opportunities
  • Grow their professional network
  • Gain insight on potential career choices
  • Potentially find employment • Practice your interviewing skills
  • Discover what employers are looking for. Look out for upcoming job fairs on the TEC Activities Calendar and be sure to attend as many as you can to help in your job search.

Hiring Events

A hiring event is much like a job fair (see above), but it is for only one company who is looking to fill a number of jobs all at once, so the company chooses to have a dedicated day to interview candidates. Hiring events often require you to apply for an interview in advance, this is called prescreening, as they have limited time to see job seekers who are interested and want to be sure they see candidates that are best suited for the roles. For job seekers it helps reduce the waiting time on the day, as selected applicants are typically given a time for their interview. Look out for upcoming hiring events on the Tropicana’s Employment Centre Activities Calendar.

Early Childhood Education—Tropicana Black Fast-Track

It is run in partnership by Centennial College and Tropicana Community Services.

Job Development Career Pathway Program

If you are 19 years or older and looking for a career in the social service sector, this may be an opportunity for you. This is a 14-week training program that covers the fundamentals of the social services sector and the specifics of a job development career.

Persons with Disabilities Employment Support Program
