Together We Can Youth Mentorship

The Together We Can Youth Mentorship service supports Black, African, and Caribbean children and youth, ages 9–25, to make healthy and safe life choices, increase resiliency, and make progress toward identified goals through culturally relevant mentorship. Funded by the provincial initiative, Services for Black Children, Youth and Families (formerly Ontario Black Youth Action Plan), the program aims to help improve the emotional well-being and positive development of Black, African, and Caribbean children and youth by increasing access to consistent, caring adults who will support them to pursue and achieve goals and outcomes related to:

  • Educational achievement
  • Employment / entrepreneurship
  • Civic engagement / leadership
  • Cultural identity

Services are free and are culturally focused with an anti-Black racism lens to assist youth in developing positive life skills, be resilient, and overcome barriers to success including systemic racism. Activities include:

  • Group mentoring
  • Educational workshops
  • Research and special cultural projects
  • Community excursions
  • Book club
  • Arts-based projects
  • Academic and employment support
