The Youth Leadership program is a certificate program specifically designed for teenagers ages 13 to 16. The 2-week program helps develop leadership skills through character-building workshops.

The following information is for the 2023 camp program.

Details

The program will be held off-site at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School, 2350 McCowan Road, Scarborough, approximately 0.8 km away from our head office location.
Youth may only register for one (1) of the three (3) available sessions:
S1: July 4-14 (30 participants)
S2: July 17-28 (30 participants)
S3: July 31 – August 11 (30 participants)
Sessions run Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., apart from holidays.
Each day includes two (2) workshops and a physical activity.
Each session includes one (1) off-site full-day field trip.
Each session will be run by three (3) program leaders.
Workshops focus on developing skills in:
- Critical thinking
- Effective communication
- Community awareness
- Collaboration
- Self-reflection
Workshops include:
- Group discussions and debates
- Group work
- Guest presenters will join the group to review cultural topics such as equity and anti-racism within the Black, African, and Caribbean communities.
Participants who have 100% attendance will receive a certificate of completion.
Youths are required to bring their lunch, snacks, and water bottle each day, including on trip days.

After Program Options

Youth Leadership participants may wait with the Summer Camp After Camp Care staff and children at no extra cost until 6:00 p.m. if they cannot be picked up at 4:00 p.m.
Youth Leadership participants can gain community service hours by supporting the Tropicana staff in running activities for Summer Camp After Camp Care.

Registration & Fees

S1: July 4 – 14, $360/youth, note Monday, July 3 is a holiday. This session will start on Tuesday, July 4.
S2: July 17 – 28, $400/youth
S3: July 31 – Aug 11, $360/youth, note Monday, August 7 is a holiday. This session will restart on Tuesday, August 8.

Discount

Get a $100 discount off your total fees if the registered youth was enrolled in our Defy Your Label and/or Rise Above programs in 2022 or 2023.

One-time subsidy of $100.00.
